AIR FORCE RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS:

                The Air Force Reserve Training Corps (AFROTC) provides you the opportunity to become a United States Air Force officer while completing your college degree. The program, combining traditional undergraduate education with military instruction, will prepare you to tackle the leadership challenges awaiting the Air Force in the 21st century. The AFROTC offers eligible high school graduates various types of scholarships that pay college tuition, most fees, an annual textbook allowance and a nontaxable monthly stipend. The program is available at Bloomsburg University, East Stroudsburg University, Keystone College, King’s College, Lackawanna College, Luzerne County Community College, Marywood University, Misericordia University, Penn State campuses in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton, University of Scranton and Wilkes University. Interested students are encouraged to visit the leadership labs on Thursday evenings at Wilkes University. For more information call Captain Greg Marsh, Unit Admissions Officer at 408-4872. FIRESIDE ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP:

                The Fireside Essay Scholarship was created to recognize high school seniors that have embraced religious education. Now in its eighteenth year, the Fireside Catholic Publishing is going to recognize five top religion students with $1,000 scholarships. Any senior enrolled in a Catholic high school can participate, but each high school can only submit one essay into the competition.  This year the essay question, maximum of 750 words, is “How is your religious education influencing your life?” The criteria for judging are content 70% and development of stated question, form and personal insight 10% each. Your essay must be submitted to the guidance office no later than November 14th.

 

MATH AND SCIENCE OPEN HOUSE

                On November 9th, from 9:00 A.M to 3:15 P.M, Moravian College will be hosting a Math & Science Open House program for the benefit of college bound high seniors and juniors and their families. Students and families will have the opportunity to learn about undergraduate opportunities within the Natural Science Division that includes programs in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, environmental studies, mathematics, neuroscience, nursing, physics, and math and science education. Pre-professional fields of study are offered in pre-dentistry, pre-medicine, pre-veterinary medicine and engineering. Interested students are asked to call 610-861-1320.

 

THEATRE WORKSHOP:

                The Lafayette College departments of admissions and theatre invite high school students to “A Theatre Workshop” on Thursday, November 1st.The program will run from 9:45 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. and for students interesting in staying for an evening performance complimentary tickets will be provided. Session topics will include musical theatre, auditioning, directing, technical aspects, small group sessions with theatre students, lunchtime scenes from Robin Hood, presentations from faculty that advise or run theatre programs and a preview from their fall performance of Our Town.
