SCHOLARSHIPS:
NANCEY
LANGE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
High school seniors that live in Lackawanna County
and plan to pursue a curriculum in an environmental field are eligible to apply
for a $500 Nancey Lange Memorial Scholarship to be awarded by the Lackawanna
County Conservation District. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who
maintained high academic standards throughout high school and has shown an
interest in the environment. Majors such as agronomy, forest sciences, parks
& recreation, wildlife resource management, natural resource conservation,
environmental studies or engineering would qualify for the scholarship. If
there is a question whether your major would qualify call the District Office
at 281-9495. Applications are available in the guidance office. Completed
applications must be received by May 30th.
JOHN &
LUCILLE GUZEY SCHOLARSHIPS:
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeastern Pennsylvania
will be awarding John and Lucille Guzey Scholarships that may be used at any local
college, technical or vocational school. The scholarship is available to
current and former Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeastern Pennsylvania members.
The scholarships are possible through an endowment fund established by John and
Lucille Guzey, the scholarship amounts are to be set by the Club Scholarship
Committee based on the earnings of the fund. Applications are available in the
guidance office. The deadline to submit completed applications is June 20th.
SCRANTON KIWANIS CLUB – NICHOLAS
LACHNO SCHOLARSHIP:
The
Scranton Kiwanis Club is pleased to announce that it will be awarding the
Nicholas Lachno
Scholarship. The scholarship
has been established to help deserving high school seniors that reside in
Lackawanna County that are going to pursue a post-high school education. Two
$2,000 scholarships will be awarded. Applications are available in the guidance
office. Applicants must submit the completed application, two letters of
recommendation, a 500-1000 word essay on college goals, personal circumstances
and commitment to community service to the guidance office no later than May 8th.
ENTREPRENEUR AWARD:
The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and the
Great Valley Technology Alliance are accepting applications for the Young
Entrepreneur Award, sponsored by Bank of America. The award highlights the
success of young business owners in Lackawanna County. For more information

APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITY:
The Scranton Electricians Joint Apprenticeship and
Training Committee accepts applications for apprenticeship, the position is
inside wireman (electrician) apprentice, from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on the
first working Monday of every month and on all other Mondays of the month from
2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Applications are
accepted at Local Union #81, I.B.E.W. office on the second floor of the
I.B.E.W. Building, 431 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton. Questions may be directed to
the Training Director by calling 344-5711.
REMINDER:
Completed senior graduation forms are due in by next
Monday, April 21st. They can be returned to either your homeroom
teacher or Mr. Mellody. If not previously submitted be sure to have the
required verification information attached.
